Wesley Sneijder has reiterated his desire to stay at Real Madrid and fight for a regular place in the side, after reports claimed he was nearing a move to Inter Milan.

The Dutch midfielder has been linked with a move to Italy for much of the summer and rumours have suggested he will join Jose Mourinho's men on loan with a view to a permanent switch at some point over the next year.

Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has also registered his interest; however, Sneijder maintains that he would like to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu and try to break into the side.

"I want to fight for my place at Real Madrid despite there being a lot of rivalry," he told ATP. "On Thursday I will be in Madrid again, so I will find out more then.

"I don't want to leave Real. I know the transfer market is open for another two weeks but I am still thinking the same about things."
