Benfica swoop for Real Madrid youngster Garcia
Benfica have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for midfielder Javi Garcia.
Garcia has had (L) Limited opportunities at Real Madrid.
The Portuguese club released a statement in which they revealed they have agreed a fee of €7m for the youngster, who has signed a five-year deal at the Estadio da Luz, subject to a medical.
Benfica have also inserted a €30m release clause in his contract.
Garcia, a product of the Madrid youth academy, is a highly-promising 22-year-old but has found his appearances limited at the Spanish giants.
He was sold to Osasuna in 2007 but Madrid exercised a buy-back option the following summer.
However, following the signings of Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Raul Albiol, the former Spain under-21 international has been allowed to leave the Bernabeu.
