Vermaelen's agent confident of Arsenal deal

Thomas Vermaelen's agent is confident a deal to take the Ajax defender to the Premier League with Arsenal will soon take place.

"It's more a question of when than one of if it will take place," Swart told Ajaxlife.
A £10million fee has reportedly been agreed between the clubs for Vermaelen, who has a contract with Ajax until June 2012.
Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie said last week that he was looking forward to the defender arriving at the Emirates stadium.
"There's nothing wrong with the qualities of Vermaelen," Van Persie said. "He can play as a left-back or a central defender and we need this type of player. The guys that we now have on those positions are already somewhat older."
